My Parents;
Both my mother's and father's families have been playing fastball/hockey for years. They gave me the pride and joy to inherit these natural ablilities to play all kinds of sports especially fastball(softball) and Hockey.
My mother, who herself has played ball at a young age grew up with more knowlege at the rink. Even though she didnot play Hockey her 8 uncles(who were all brothers) including her father all played Hockey for the love of the sport. They were all natural talented athletes and when a Hockey tournament would came up. Big crowds would form and they would evenually know everyone and who the brothers are. Today, the uncles are all known to me as my grandfathers and there children have taken up the name of the Kaiswatum.
On the other hand, my father who was known to be a rough and tough natural talented athlete. During his time in his prime he and my mother travelled through out canada competing in tournaments through out the years. Including the time when my grandfather, my uncle & my father faced team canada in a fastball tournament in plentywood. That year team canada was going to the pam am games and included the well known pitcher Dave pierce. Its kind of ironic b/c in the future Dave pierce trained and helped me with my softball career. But that tournament the indians won and came out on top.
I've been going to fastball/hockey tournaments ever since I was a baby and I've joined the sport of softball since the age of 8. Ever since I was thirteen(13)years old I was playing ladies fastball in the first nation circuit leading to the present time today. I've also been lucky enough to have trained with Canada's top coach: Dave Pearce. Under his wing I've learned alot in softball and I've also seeked help with my pitching. It was nice to have trainined with Dave since I've had no one to teach me all kinds of pitches in softball and as well softball situations/skills.
The leagues Underdogs! In 2003, our little team; "The Dreamcatchers" almost tasted victory as city champions and were just about to be off to provicials that season. We put up a good battle since that was the first in the season we've made homeruns and made double plays as little 13-14 year olds. Our whole team was first nation and even though we lost almost every game that season we came back as the underdogs and beat everyteam we've played to the final except one particular team. Which was a little girls farm team from out of town and it was funny because we were a little girls urban/rez team. But we gave them a run for there metals and came out 2nd place which wasn't that bad. We've had fun that season and most out of everygame we played.
This was the first for my best achievement and it seems the creator had plenty more to come. . . .
In 2006, I was choosen to be on team sask for Naig 2006 Juv.girls team. We were entered in a tournament out of the city and it wasn't a big tournament but one to remember for all time. Our Juv.team sask was 2 months away from going down to Denver, Colorado when the senior womans team sask decided to have a little tournament for practice and were funraising for Denver. We had all our main fielders but only 3 out of 5 pitchers showed up. So we've battled hard to get to the final and my coach wanted to use me in the final for pitching. So I agreed and the other pitcher who was also on my level decided not to show up and skipped out on the tournament. Which was kind of hard on our team since i don't want to brag but I trained hard to become the best and I wanted to win so badly since our pitchers were tired. Let me tell you, I've seen the senior team sask and they can hit and I promised myself that they would each and everyone of them would strike out to me. So the we got to the 4th inning and BAMM!!! 3 Up! 3 Down thats how it was for me and I thought nothing of it. We were all cheering hard that game and some of the girls voices gave out and soon we were up 6-0 and after one more pitch it was all over. But then the senior team protested saying we should go 7 innings since it was there tournament and seeing that it was we gave them 7 innings. . . . in the 5th inning things were looking bad since the seniors caught up 6-5 and we were giving out. Until my coach turns to me and says "how bad do you want it". . . so i smiled and pitched onwards even though my body was tired but not my spirit. i pushed forward stiking out every woman. and BAMM!!! It was 8-5 We've finally won!! and I was just happy with all my heart I made myself proud for pushing myself and all my family was watching which i was totally ingnoring the crowd and let me tell ya something. . it was a big crowd that was watching. =)
and that was just the beginning. . I'm sure all athletes have some stories and best achievements to tell . . . and that was just apart of mine. .
