Mentors

My number one is my Dad. He got me involved in softball when i was 5. For all the hundreds of games, practices, tournaments I played in, he was always there. My dad played alot of sports growing also, so thats why he passed that on. He still plays competitive hockey! Go Dad!   

I also look up to my fellow coaches, and players. I've had alot of very passionate, educated coaches who have helped me in any sport I've participated in. It takes alot of dedication to put together a team and make them winners, yet, still implying that ultimate fun factor. I do look up to professional players, but, when it comes down to it, they're just average joe's. Whether you're an individual, or teammate, we're all learning from eachother. Pushing, and teaching one another. In my experience, I've always bettered my game by challenging my teammates, or opponent.

Personal Best

Out of all trophies, awards won, I'd have to say the Provincial Achievement Award given to me by the Provincial Women's Softball Association. Its the highest award given to an individual at the end of the year. I'm most proud of this award because of the reason for it. I was the youngest player on my team by 2-3 years. I had earned the number one catching spot for the year. At the Provincial Qualifiers, my team was down by 3 runs, there was 2 out. I was the last at bat with a 3-2 count. I ended up hitting a line drive just short of the foul line and out of the park for a Grand Slam. I was proud to have been the only person representing my team, my city, my reserve, and my family at the awards banquet. It was pretty neat, and an irreplacable experience.

Additional Comments

Aboriginals are natural born athletes. I'd love to see more youth getting involved, and representing us at a tournament, championship, or an olympic podium.
